My IE suddenly won't load at all. I double click the Icon, get the
hourglass for about 5 or 6 seconds, and then nothing.

I'm running Win XP, and I hadn't installed anything new or changed any
settings. I tried the IE repair tool, with no results.

Any suggestions? I can't be the only person this has ever happened to.

Thanx:

Tom

Hi Thomas,

You may like to try an online Virus scan.
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/
Afterward write down any infection found.
Search on Google by the name.
Use one fix sheet that easiest to understand.
do everything on the list or it will return.
You also can go do Google, "type"
Stinger. You will find a short program by NAI that removes
30+ infections.
Run this as a supplement.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Thanx to all you folks for your help.

I tried everything suggested, with no apparent effect. Then I rebooted this
morning, and when the system started, Ad-Aware popped up and said it needed
to finish a scan.

After the scan completed, I logged back on to my ISP, and suddenly IE opened
of its own accord, apparently alive and well. Although some toolbars are
missing, it seems to be working.

I'll attach the Ad-Aware report for anyone who might be interested.

Regards to all:

Tom
