Hi, i have a issue, where files and folders from both my desktop and from my
favorites appear on the internet address bar, very much just like visited
sites would. So i have deleted history, cookies etc but was wandering how i
can remove this feature where desktop files and folders as well as ones from
My Favorites appear in the address bar? Would really appreciate it if someone
could help me out, thanks

Hi JBS,
If I understood you right, right click on an empty space on the Toolbar and
select Customize toolbar, but be sure the lock the Toolbars option is
unchecked first.
On the Customize Tollbar window Remove the History Folder from there and
click OK to confirm your changes and quit the window.
Be sure to lock the Toolbars again when you done.

Please let us know if it was of a help to you.

Hi nass,
Thanks for replying, but that wasnt quite what i meant. What i mean is that,
in the address bar where i type e.g. www.bbc.com etc, i can access my folders
and files that are on my desktop. So for example if a picture named, water,
if i start to type in www.etc, there is a link that comes down from the
address bar, to that picture, and if i click it, it takes me to that picture.
Same for all application and folders as well that are on my desktop. E.g.
there will be a link, "word.exe" At the same time, the folders and websites
that i store as favorites, also appear as links. So if i stored microsoft.com
as a favorite, if i type in m in the address bar, it gives me a link to the
site(even though i had cleared history). Basically i dont want so many links
dropping down from the address bar that are from my files and folders from
the desktop and "my favorites." I want to disassociate these files from
internet explorer. I really hope this is clearer. Please get back to me if u
know anything. Thanks

Hi,
So you need to turn The Autocomplete/remember off, to do that open the IE
properties and click on content and click on Autocomplete Button under
Personal Information, there you can clear the Boxes for remember Web address,
Forms and passwords under Use Autocomplete for Option.
Click Ok and Quit the IE window and Reboot your machine.

Please let us know.

I don't know the answer but don't use Beta 7. You won't be able to use IE any
more and the windows explorer search function won't work until you reinstall
some .dll files that the beta release erases. Not only that, but Microsoft
won't help you until you give them all kinds of information that is not
pertinent to the problem. Opera and Firefox are better anyway and now they
are both free!

I'll use Beta 7 when and if I decide.
