Lately my IE6 for XP SP2 is frequently freezing up. I have to close the
program and reopen frequently.

All other programs open are fine.

What should I do?

What are you doing when this happens?
It could be a malware infection.

I am having the same problem as these folks. It started today, and I have done a system restore to a week ago. I am still having the problems. I have done both a spyware (Defender) and virus (McAfee) scan and nothing has been identified. Any help would be appreciated

Also having the same problem and can't figure out what else to do. I just
realized that Netscape seems to work just fine, but... still nothing working
for more than a few minutes with internet explorer 6...

I think I discovered the issue: Comcast Toolbar. I don't understand why the
issue came up all of a sudden, since I have had the toolbar installed for
more than a month. Since I uninstalled the toolbar, the problem has
disappeared.

I don't have Comcast. And I have run adware and virus programs and came up
clean also.

Do you have any other toolbars? My colleague had the same problem.
Uninstalling the UPromise toolbar did the trick.

No I don't have UPromise either, have Verizon/Yahoo tool bar. In the
possible fixes on the error reporting page was the suggestion to update the
Yahoo toolbar as there was a fix for it, I did that along with the other
suggestions in the error reporting page But no help yet. I have had no
problems for 8 months with this set-up and now all the sudden I am freezing
up constanly.
