Steve

Whenever I start IE the program immediately crashes and
wants to send Microsoft a message about it. I have tried
to reinstall, but that didn't work. I tried to go
backwards to an earlier version, but there was no option
for that. This machine is running Windows 2000 Pro with
SP4. Do you know of any command line ways to for a full
reinstall or removal? I have also tried different users
in the event this was a profile issue. Unfortunatly, it
is not the problem.

Any assistance would be great!

Thanks,
Steve

One of my users is experiencing the same problem in Win XP
Pro SP1. There's a KB article on how to reinstall IE
(search support using keywords reinstall internet
explorer), but the reinstall did not solve the problem.
Anyone else know of this issue? I thought it was spyware
or even virus-related at first, but I can't find any
evidence of it. Reinstallation (including the supposedly
causing .dll's) doesn't help.

Go back a few pages, the problem (now resolved) was the
presence of the CoolWebSearch trojan, which was not
detected before I ran the CWShredder cleaner freeware
program (thank you very much to the authors).

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
