IE won't close when X clicked

I have recently had problems trying to close an IE
window. When clicking the X to close the window, I get
a 'beep', and IE won't close. The window will minimize,
but won't close. THe only way to get it to close is to
use the task manager and end the task, but that takes
multiple attempts to end as well, and then it prepares an
error report to send to MS.

This behavior started a couple of weeks ago. No virus's
are found via Norton, and I'm running Zone Labs Security
firewall.

HELP. This is really annoying.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

Have you found a solution to your problem. I just started to experience the same annoying symptom.
