Explorer window won't close by clicking "close" or the X

My Internet Explorer windows will no longer close when I
click "close" in the file menu or when I click the X on
the top right all the time. This happens about 75% of
the time now. It started yesterday.

I can only close an IE window by using the task manager
and ending the task.

In the past 3 days I've installed a Spyware detector and
a few PC Shareware games.

Has anyone had this problem before? Will reinstalling
Internet Explorer fix it? It's driving me nuts!

Thanks.

Karla,
This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

Additional information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

Be sure to take a look at any programs which were installed about the time
the problem started.

Hope this helps,
Don
