windows won't close

I have windows xp the last week or so when I work with
just the Internet Explorer windows will not close when I
click on the (x).
I have to go to (ctrl alt del) to close all windows.

I also have and use Compu serve and the windows close
when I click on the (x).

any suggestions????/

Could be a virus? Do you have a good anti-virus program
installed?

If thats not the problem, re-installing internet explorer
might help. It worked for me
