IE will not work

I have a dell laptop - XP Home - I cannot access the
Internet via. I.E. - it works great when I go to AOL but
not with IE - I have all of the current updates - I have
tried many things suggested by other forums, but it still
doesn't work.

Do I have to uninstall and reinstall IE? Can
an "unexperienced user" handle a task like that?

What happens when you try to access the internet? Does it freeze, re-direct;
what happens *exactly*? You can try "Repair IE", but that may not be the
solution for your problem. That would be done by Control Panel>add/remove
programs> microsoft Internet explorer SP-1 with internet tools>click
add/remove> repair IE. But again, maybe you've tried this already? You
haven't specified what you've tried to this newsgroup. ;-)

I think you cannot really "un-install IE" in an XP operating system.
