IE will not open

I have Service Pack 2.

When I double click on my IE icon nothing happens. I have to go into
internet properties, delete all temporary files (off line as well), and then
re-try to start IE; This is the only way that I can get IE to open up.

What's the problem?

Hi,
Since clearing the cache helps, you might try deleting the TIF folder- it
may be damaged. A new TIF folder will be created on restart.

Login as another user with administrator privileges, or from the machine's
default administrator account (Safe Mode in XP Home) and delete the affected
TIF folder from Windows Explorer.

You would not be able to delete this folder when logged in as yourself- it's
"In use." You should be able to delete it from the Administrator account.

Another program may be interfering with IE. From Control Panel> Internet
Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions." With IE6
SP2, go to Tools> Manage add-ons and disable add-ons. If either of those
steps helps, you need to find the troublesome extension, BHO or add-on and
disable it. One of these programs may help:
BHODemon 2.0: http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
ToolbarCop: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm

This may be a malware problem. Start by downloading and running CWShredder,
Ad-aware and Spybot. Check for updates before running Ad-aware or Spybot.
