IE uses 100% of CPU

Anytime I open my internet explorer the program opens
just fine, runs fine, first address I try to visit
(exclude the home page on startup), ANY address mind you,
my CPU usage rockets to 100%, IE stops responding, I
can't even "end task" and when I click "end task" anyway,
my systems runs dumprep.exe. If I wait about40 minutes IE
will finally close.

What is the problem? I'm running WinXP Pro with SP1
installed and IE 6sp1 and have been for several weeks
now, this began last night and it eventually crashed my
computer. WHy is this happening I can access the
internet several different ways, just not with IE.

I'm pulling my hair out

100% CPU usage with known good RAM and stable O/S is
