IE so sloooow

Jimmy Hsu

My web surfing has slowed down quite a bit lately, although I subscribed to
1.5mb ADSL broadband.
To speed things up, I've deleted all Temporary Internet files (Tools/Tools
Options/Delete Cookies, Files), History Files, etc. I've scanned for viruses
using Trend Micro, AVG and removed the Spyware files that were detected.
But IE still loads web pages slowly.

Please help. I am using IE version 6.0.2990.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519
128 bit on Win XP on a DELL 2.2 Ghz with 256 RAM. Many thanks

What would you call slow. Connections to the internet can depend on
several things. Your Internet speed, Ram if you have a large temp cache
and of course the namespace server or webserver you are connecting to.
Do you find all the time they are slow no matter what URL you are
visiting? with only haveing 256 RAM that might be an issue if you are
running multiple programs at the same time. I have 1Gb RAM and My IE
runs slow some times when i have multiple instances running thats why I
use firefox, for tabbed browsing.

It might sound obvious, is there anyone else using your internet
connection?
Downloading? are you using WI-FI?
And what speed do you actually recive? check out

If you post your result that will give a better indication of whats
wrong, ISP/Server problems or your computer problem.

Good Luck
Jamie
