IE Script Errors

I have what appears to be a serious problem with IE scripts. I am getting
blank white pages (when I open system restore, for example!), Help and
Support doesn't work (I get the search box, but no responses, clicking on the
Use Tools line brings up an unresponsive Tools page), I can't run McAfee
Virus scanner (I get IE Script error messages), I cant open McAfee Securityy
Centre (I get vbscript errors).
I think this all started when I (foolishly) installed IE7 Beta (from MS
site) for evaluation (I know its a Beta and its my risk etc). I have now
uninstalled IE7 and re-installed IE6 (advice from these forums).
I have re-installed the script engine (File ver 5.50.4134.600, from MS),
deleted cookies (McAfee advice) etc, carried out various reregisters of IE
DLLs (as advised in MS KB), reregistered/installed IE files (as per MS KB)
all to no avail.
As I cant get to the restore point I set pre IE7 installation, I'm a bit
stuck! (I've tried running System Restore direct from the system32 dir, too.)
Any ideas? I think I need some help on this one!

Problem solved! I was scanning the IE 6 General forum (just in case!) and
came across a reply to a post on 25/02/2006 (ActiveX bar doesn't even show no
options) and Jan I suggested:

"Download the file OLEfix.zip available here (it is a registry file
that origin from MS Support, and it has fixed the ActiveX problem
for several people, getting this problem after installing KB896688):

http://patch-info.de/IE/Downloads/OLEfix.zip"

to the poster. I thought it might be related (as I hadn't seen my ActiveX
bar during the time I was trying to resolve this problem) So I tried
it...BINGO! it all works now!

Great advice - Thanks Jan (even though your reply was to another post).
