IE run over

i've had major probs w/ spy/adware lately, and I tried to
get rid of most of it by some of the methods suggested
here at microsoft.com. I had this program called
unwise.exe in my c:\windows folder, and it gave me errors
all the time for many programs, and gave an error as soon
as i logged into windows, so I deleted it. I also
searched through the registry for several hours and
deleted all references to c:\windows\unwise.exe.
everything seems to work better now except IE. For a long
time (that's why i'm not sure it was unwise.exe doing
this) i've not been able to open html or htm files by
clicking on them when they're on my computer. I get a
crash. If i type the address into IE's address bar, it
works fine. HTA and SHTML extensions work by double-
click. Being a web designer, this frustrates me to no
end, does anyone know how I can make IE work right?

Ok, it may not be that unwise thing, i've just gotten
tons of errors from it, but after I took it out of
msconfig and out of the start up folder, AND deleted it
(whew) everything seemed to work great--then I tried to
edit my html files... IE gives me this error, and when I
click don't send, it shuts down IE and windows explorer,
but doesn't shut down existing IE pages. however, if you
wait and don't click anything on the windows error
message, the page will load (the one you double-clicked
on) and will function fine-until you hit don't send, when
it shuts down...
