IE/Outlook interaction w/ staroffice

We have a PC running XP Home. It came with StarOffice
5.2 installed, and we installed Office2000 Pro
afterwards.

The problem we're having is that even though the internet
options are all set to IE, Outlook, etc., when we try to
send email from within a web page, or to open a page from
within an email, the machine tries to start StarOffice
instead of the appropriate Windows product.

Has anyone else run into this, or have any ideas howto
correct it (short of removing the other program... there
are still several files created in it that we're not able
to migrate to Office)

should be some options in office software not to start,
or disable. untill you need it. should be able disable in
msconfig. or get a startup program for control.
