IE opens wrong application

When I open IE ,the actual application it opens is windows
explorer (explorer.exe) instead of (iexplore.exe)The path
in the IE shortcut seems correct(c:\program files\internet
explorer\iexplore.exe)
Anyone know why this might be happening?
I have w98se,IE6sp1

No Trojan ,all has been checked ,KAV ,adaware,spybot and
highjackthis. It does have something to do with the fact
that I have installed IE6 sp1 on a w98se.I have read a
couple of articles pointing to that and I thought that
someone here might be able to supply more info. on it.

that I have installed IE6 sp1 on a w98se.I have read a

someone here might be able to supply more info. on it.

I ran OE6 SP1 on Win98SE for a couple years with no problems until the
machine died.

I figure you meant IE6 instead of OE6. Have no problem
with OE6.Actually it`s rather a nuisance more than a
problem as I can access the net ok,it`s just the fact that
IE is using Explorer for access.

For me it will sometimes use Explorer if Explorer is already open and
there's no iexplore window open.

For me even if I click on IE icon ,with nothing else
open ,it opens a normal IE window,but when you ck. the
actual file it is using or running process it is
explorer.exe.,instead of iexplore.exe. Can`t figure this
one out.As I said earlier I have heard that it has
something to do with the IE6 upgrade . I just thought that
some of the MVP`s here might be able tt shed some light on
this.
