ie not starting up

i seem to be having a problem with ie. anytime i click on
it, it will not start up at all, restarting the computer
does not help. i have scaned my computer for viruses, and
it detected none. when i click on the icon, it tells me
that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. but
what is weird is, when i switch over to my mothers account
on my computer (we share the same computer), ie works fine,
but it does not work on my own account. i have tried
installing sp1 for ie, but it never finishes, it always
freezes, but i will continue to try. any ideas on what this
problem could be

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
