Jim

Hi,

I am getting the "Send Error Report" box whenever I start
up IE from one of my "Computer Administrator" user
accounts.

IE works fine when I start it from one of the "Limited"
user accounts on this same computer.

I am running IE 6 on Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell
computer.

I have re-installed IE from the Reinstallation CD that
came with the system but it did not help.

I created a new "Computer Administrator" user. But when
I ran IE, it resulted in the same problem.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Jim

Make a note of the precise text of any error message. You can always look at these in Event Viewer. Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID: and Source Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Please let the newsgroup know how you get on.

Hope this helps.

Jim,
This is probably a parasite problem.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Run CWShredder from
http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html
It's been
the most helpful with this problem.
Note: usual download site for CWShredder would be merijn.org That site is
currently experiencing a denial of service attack.

You may need to follow up with Ad-aware and/or Spybot S&D. Both programs
should be updated after installation- before use.
See: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note security tips at that site.

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

Or, you may be able to access these or other sites from the Address Bar of
Windows Explorer.

It's been the most helpful with this problem. CWShredder is only about 125
KB so it
could be downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk.
