IE "Not Responding" when siute link opens new window

Guest

I'm running XP SP2 IE 6 and am consistently hanging whenever I click on a
link within a website which opens a new window; actually the hang-up happens
when I close the newly opened window and return to the original page. The
hourglass starts and the only way out is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and use task manager
to shutdown IE.

Any ideas? THANKS in advance!

Hi,
This is probably being caused by another program- possibly malware.

Download and run CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot.
See: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note the security tips and other important information on that page.

Or...
A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
anti-virus, etc- any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have
to reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

Hope this helps,
