IE not opening

Hello. I sure hope someone is able to help me with this
problem. Until recently, I had no problems with IE ( I
have XP home edition). Now, if I am in my hotmail or any
other site on the net and click on a link to follow (the
ones in blue) another window will open, but then it will
quickly close. I can repeat the process, but the same
thing will happen. Can anyone tell me how to correct this
problem ? Thank you in advance.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

You may have a POP-UP Stopper installed on your machine
will causing this problem.

Java issue?

Tools/internet options/advanced/Microsoft VM
....only tick the JIT compiler box and leave the Java boxes un checked
(default)

Parasite?
IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit is with these
tools.

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
