IE - missing 'Address' bar icon

On the address bar/field, normally an icon will appear before http://

Mine no longer shows any special icons (for example, eBay), or the defult IE
icon. It just shows a blank icon - sorry, hard to discribe. If there is
somewhere I can upload a screenshot if req, let me know.

This is one of those little things that is bugging me! Please help.

Hi Alan, thanks for the reply. Unfortunatly this did not work. It found all
the icons on the websites and they now show up under the favourites menu...
but there are still no icons on the main IE page next to the word 'Address'
and before http://

I'm pretty sure this is an error of somekind and not a case of temp internet
files. This is something that has happened in the last week or two and I
don't know what caused it, or what to do to fix it.

Any more ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Just checked again... now the sites which have special icons (favicons) show
up - such as eBay, but the sites which should have the defult IE 'e' icon
still do not.

Any help is appriciated... I'm thinking I might have to reinstall IE?!
Hopefully there is an easier way.

Cheers.

You can reset your Internet Explorer settings to their original defaults,
including your home page and search pages, and choice of default browser,
without changing your other browser's settings.
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Programs tab.
3. Click the Reset Web Settings button.

your last option

To uninstall Internet Explorer
If you encounter problems that you cannot resolve, it is often beneficial to
uninstall Internet Explorer and then reinstall it. This procedure replaces
files that might have been damaged.
1. In Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.

· If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, and then
click Add or Remove Programs.
· If you upgraded to Internet Explorer 6, when you uninstall Internet
Explorer 6, you will go back to the version of Internet Explorer that was on
your computer before you upgraded

hope this help
