ICON problems for new program

I just installed Outlook 2007 and I already have excel and word ect from
years ago. When I installed Outlook it did not install a desktop Icon and
when I went looking for it, it was under start, programs, microsoft office
with many other ms programs. I needed it on my desktop so I click my mouse
and drug it to the desktop which was fine for a few minutes until I went to
rearrange my icons and it appears to have disappeared all together. Its name
shows up on a generic folder I have when I run my mouse over that icon which
was next to the outlook icon before it disappeared, but when I click on the
generic icon it is the normal program it was. Then to complicate matters
more because I clicked and dragged the icon it is not in the program bar
anylonger but you probally knew that. Please help I really would prefer an
icon on desktop and in the program bar. Also not necessary but if you could
tell me how to get rid of all the icons for MS that are trial use or no
longer useful products so I would just have the icons I use for active
programs I would appreciate that. I have more ms icons than I can count.
THANKS!!!!!!

Janelle-

You should be able to drag it back to the start menu,to get it back on
there. Instead of dragging it to the desktop, just right click & Send to
"Desktop"(create shortcut).
Right click the program desktop icon,go to Properties,Customize,Change
Icon,Browse.Click on My Computer(on the left of the window),click on the C
drive,Program Files,& go to that particular program & look through the list
for the correct icon. You may have to double click the different folders
within that file.Once you locate the correct icon, double click it & click
OK.
As far as the leftover icons from trial programs-you should go to the
uninstaller for that program, either from the program in the start menu/All
Programs,or from Add Remove Programs in Control Panel & uninstall it from
there. If it is already uninstalled,& it left the desktop icon, then you can
just right click on it & click Delete,to get rid of it that way.
