IE minimized permanently

hi all

whenever i d/click on desktop ie icon, or single click on the taskbar ie
icon, the browser AND dial-up dialogue box start and remain minimized.

i have tried right clicking and re-sizing, maximizing, restoring etc.,
checked "run" values in shortcut icon, and no luck. now using firefox to post
this question. im assuming i picked up a nasty somewhere, but ad-aware and
spybot both come up clean.

any help appreciated.

Open one instance of IE and then open a new window.
Close the original window. In the address box of the new window type the following (where
XXX,XXX is your screen resolution) and press ENTER.
(Example: 640,480 <- separated by a comma)


javascript:moveTo(0,0);resizeTo(XXX,XXX)

Hold the CTRL button and close the window (top right button).

Dialup issue:
* In IE, select Tools > Internet Options > Connections, select 'Never dial a
connection'. click OK

IE minimized issue:
* Open TweakUI - Download: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/admins.htm
* In TweakUI, expand 'General', select 'Focus'
* check 'Prevent applications from stealing focus', click OK
* Restart computer
 
i cannot open any explorer windows. thats the whole point. unfortunately the
"box" minimizes and stays iminimized, therefore i cannot type anything into
address bar.

hyi. ive done what youve suggested but its not cured the problem
unfortunately. p.s. the 'Prevent applications from stealing focus' box was
already ticked, but i un-ticked it and ticked it again and re-booted. no joy.

Click Start | Run and type
Regedit
and press <Enter>.

In the left pane navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\

In the right pane right click Window_Placement and select Delete.

Now, back in the left pane, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\

and delete OldWorkAreaRects the same way.

Then reboot.
