I shouldn't have this symptom because I have sp1 installed and I'm running IE
v6.00.28 (at least according to Add/Remove Programs and IE Help screen). But
I do! When I reboot and check resources, then open IE, resources drop by more
than 10%. When I close out IE, resources may go back up by 1-3% at most.
Running Windows ME with all updates (according to microsoft scan).
Is there any chance Microsoft's update programs could be confused in
thinking my system is up-to-date when it's not? I try installing all the
patches over again and the install is stopped when it says I'm already
up-to-date. There was a point when my IE got so corrupt, I had to restore IE
back to 5.0 (using Add/Remove Programs), but I reinstalled SP1 after that and
confirmed through help screen,etc.
I'm scratching my head here. Can anyone shed some light?
P.S. I'm clean of spyware, but I recently started having another symptom
where system resources start at 45% now. Bare bones are loaded, but I
recently installed new memory sticks. If I installed ECC vs NON-ECC (I'm
trying to sort out why Dell site said I needed ECC, but old sticks turned out
to be NON-ECC), could this cause memory leaks and low initial system
resources?
