IE memory leak

My RAM free memory declines over time, as some program
must be using resources and then not releasing them. In
troubleshooting, IE6 seems to be part of the problem, as
memory drops after I use IE for a while and then close it
(by closing, RAM free memory should return to base level,
but does not). Any ideas how to fix or troubleshoot?
