I see that a few people are reporting this same problem but
with no answers yet. The problem: i.e. closes whenever I
try to get onto the internet.
App name: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2600.0
ModName: winshow.dll
Modversion: 1.0.0.6
offset: 00005767
I've seen answers on similar problems but not for the
ModName- winshow.dll. Does anyone have any ideas on how to
fix this?

I have been having the same problem as you for a while

click start>control panel>internet options or network and
internet connections>internet options

This opens the internet options

click delete cookies ,files

Click on the programs tab and click reset web settings

then click advanced and uncheck

1. Enable install on demand (Other)

2. Enable 3rd party browser extensions

Then go there

When is somebody going to admit that it isn't always caused by spyware but
by MS being less than perfect.
I get it and I never find any spyware.

Look for you type of errors here.
http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/ermshtml.htm

Rule out parasites:
Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
