IE Hangs at Password entry

I am running IE6 on Win2000 on a laptop and I'm having a
problem in logging into password secured websites like
Ebay, etc. I'll put my user ID in at the correct prompt
and then either hit "TAB" or click in the password prompt
and the Browser hangs up for several minuets (2 to min.)
I have tried cleaning out the cookies and temp internet
files but that doesnot help.

Hi,
There might be corruption in the password cache. Try clearing all passwords
from Internet Options> Content> Autocomplete.
Protected Storage PassView from http://www.webattack.com/get/pspv.shtml will
help you recover other cached passwords *before* you clear all passwords.

Less likely, I think, but you might need to remove spyware and/or parasites.
