IE freezing/stops responding

My browser freezes up about twice a day (when it
says "Downloading from site..." in the lower left hand
corner) and has to be shut down from task manager. I am
running a high speed connection, automatically detecting
settings. It does not matter what site I am going to or
whether it is a new window or one that is in use. Does
anyone have any ideas why this would be occurring? It
only started doing this about 2 weeks ago. I've made no
changes to my settings.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
