My friend just got a new desktop computer. I helped him with some of the change over from his laptop. I exported his laptop IE Favorites as an .html file to a floppy. Then I put the floppy in his new desktop and imported the file into Internet Explorer. Worked fine. But yesterday he called me with a problem. Strange thing is that his Favorites stay in alphabetical order. He can rearrange the order and they look just great. But if he leaves the Favorites list, the next time he opens it again they are back in alphabetical order.
He uses Win XP and has IE 6.0. On his laptop he can change the order of the favorites and they stay that way. But on his desktop the order reverts to alphabetical whenever he leaves the Favorites list. Any ideas?
I had him do the Favorites listing order change using Favorites..Organize Favorites.. to change the order. And.. also just Favorites, and click and drag to a different order there. In both cases the order change shows correctly UNTIL he leaves Favorites. When he returns they are back in alphabetical order. If he does the same thing on his laptop the order change is permanent. Could the fact that his laptop entries were IMPORTED have anything to do with it?
