Lost Favorites in IE

My friend somehow lost his entire list of Favorites in Internet Explorer.
When he opened IE and clicked on Favorites nothing was there. It still
works since he tried to Add new URLs to Favorites and it works OK. Any
ideas on what happened and if he can somehow restore his Favorites listings?

Did he log on as a new user? If so he can import the favorites from the old
ID or simply do a systemwide find on bookmarks and include hidden files under
the search criteria. If you use Windows Explorer under tools select show
hidden files so you can go into the user section and see favorites of each
(to copy over).

Also if he remembers one of the old sites by searching for it you'll find
where it is hiding along with the other favorites

Hope this helps.

Just to add on to Wally's post,

You can find your old user profile folders very easily. Just navigate to my
computer, then c: local disk, then documents and settings, in there will be a
list of many different users just go to each user profile, then check the
favorites folder in each, when you find the folder that he is missing then
he can copy its favorites over to his own. Good advice by Wally I just
wanted to let you know how to get to the documents and settings folder to
find your user accounts.
