IE downloads & runtime error

Frank Russell

I have friend with a laptop and a PC both connected via ADSL to internet. There is
site he use to download forms in PDF format. When he downloads using the Laptop he
has no problems. But when He tries this using the PC he always gets an IE
error message saying 'Page cannot be displayed' He can right click on link and
save as or even print but cannot open form on line. Why I wonder? I cannot see
that the IE seetings are different from PC to laptop. Both machines are
using XP and latest version of IE as far as I can tell and he has uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Reader..

Thanks

My problem is that when I go to open IE I immediately get a runtime error message which, gives the path C://program files/ etc IE.exe
and then says 'The application has requsted runtime to terminate it in an unusual way, please contact the application support team.'

I believe he needs to check the settings in Acrobat Reader.

Uninstall the Google toolbar.

Hi,
1. For the PDF problem see http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/pdf.htm

2. The Google toolbar has been causing a runtime error on some systems.
Uninstall it from Control Panel> add/remove programs. You could try
reinstalling it now, or wait a while to see if a newer version doesn't cause
the problem.

If the Google toolbar is not the culprit...
If running XP SP2, try IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable add-ons to see if
one of them is the culprit. If not using SP2, try one of these free
programs:
ToolbarCop: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm
BHODemon 2.0: http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm

Hope this helps,
Don

Uninstalling worked thanks. Can I reinstall it?

Some people have reported that reinstalling does not bring back the problem.
It's worth trying if you like the toolbar.
