ie doesn't recognize wireless connection

My laptop (compaq 2590) shows an "excellent" wireless
connection on wireless (netgear) home network, but
internet explorer, outlook express, etc. do not recognize
the connection. Also, it shows an ip address but cannot
ping from or to laptop.

Can anyone help?
 
What's the IP address?
Can you ping your default gateway's IP address?
Can you ping your DNS server's IP address?
Can you ping www.yahoo.com
