IE Dial Up Setting Question

When I press the IE icon, a Dial Up Connection box opens that initiates the
modem to connect to the internet. In that box, there is a check box for
'Connect Automatically'. I check the box because I want to always connect to
the internet when I click the IE icon. The problem is this check box does
not stay set all the time. Sometimes it is checked, other times it is not.

Question,
How do I make this 'Connect Automatically' permanent? Is there another
setting somewhere that I have missed?

From IE Explorer, click on Tools | Internet options and go
to the Connections tab. Make sure that the "Always dial
my default connection" is highlighted. Also, in the
listbox, highlight your connection (Earthlink, AOL, etc,)
and hit the button "Set Default". It should then
automatically dial out.

I set up the connection as you indicated. But IE still won't dial
automatically when IE is opened. When I open IE, a Dial-up Connection dialog
box opens. In that box, there is a Connect Automatically check box. This
check box is not set, and when I do set it to dial out, the next time I open
IE, the check box is unchecked. There has to be something that will enable
this check box to always remain checked. It should be noted that the check
box doesn't have to be checked to connect to the internet, as I can just
select the Connect button. But unless this Connect Automatically is checked,
it will never dial out automatically. The save password check box always
remains checked. Anyone have any ideas? Could this be related to the modem
in some way?
