IE Crashes When Opened- Winks.dll

R

Roger

When attempting to open IE 6.0, IE crashes w/ following
message: "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."

Error Signature contains following details:
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
ModName: winks.dll
Offset: 00013345

Can anyone throw me a line on this?

Roger,
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Then run Ad-aware and/or Spybot S&D. Both programs
should be updated after installation- before use.
See: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

Also note security tips at that site.

If you decide to also run CWShredder, here are temporary download links:

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.
