IE crashes when closing browser window

[Frustrated IE 6 User]

Hi there. Maybe someone can help?
I'm running IE 6 on Windows 2000. It's been solid for over
a year, but about 5 months ago, I started running into
this problem. When closing a browser window, an error
message comes up (restart and send error message to MS).
You click ok, and 95% of the time, any and all browswer
windows crash. It happens if I have anywhere from 2 to 10
browswer windows open simultaneously. This has become a
very annoying issue. Hope someone knows a fix.

Check your system for "hijackware":

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred
tool to use these days. It will help to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Robert, thanks for your help. I installed "hijackthis" and
posted the log to the Spyware info. forum. Let's see if
they can find the incriminating file(s).
