IE causing pc to freeze.

H

Henry Cheshire

After browsing for a while and with no obvious triggers IE
& pc will partly freeze. I can still minimize but not close
windows nor disconnect from the internet. Strangely, can
still open My Computer, Control Panel etc but can't run
anything. Ctrl Alt Delete wont work so have to use reset
button.

Am running ZoneAlarm, AVG & On-speed. Problem doesn't seem
to occur whilst using Opera.

1- Repair IE.
Add/Remove programs/MS/IE repair...

2- You need to take a look at:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=259737 You'll need to
download and run the mcrepair.exe program from that article to replace some
dll's and
a table (Asycfilt.dll Oleaut32.dll Olepro32.dll Stdole2.tlb) with older
versions.
You can rename your current ones for backup if you want to play safe. When
you run the
mcrepair executable, when it prompts you whether you wish to overwrite Newer
files,
make sure to click YES for each file ( do not select "No" or "No to All" ).
You need to replace them all. Try that and see if it solves your problem.
Regards,

3- Check your Java.

Check your Java Support
Found out what version you have and you should be able to get what you need.

Is still no joy then rule out parasites.
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
