IE browser kapoot

I have an XP and ever since I loaded the Direcway satellite
software my IE browser doesn't work at all. To browse the
internet I have to use Netscape or MSN 8 software (which I
don't like). I uninstalled the Direcway software,
downloaded IE 6, then I reinstalled the XP software, then
upgraded to Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003, and
finally installed ad aware and had 118 files removed as a
result of the scan. The IE browser still tells me that the
page can't be displayed - "Cannot find server or DNS
error". Internet explorer just won't connect to the
internet. I don't know what else to do other than erase
the entire hard drive and start over. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab. You
should see your connection in the Dial-Up and Virtual Private Network
Settings box. If you don't, you will have to add it manually. The
procedure is fairly straightforward. Below that box, the Never Dial A
Connection button should be selected.
