IE and WE not opening

Help, just happened. Cannot open IE nor Windows Expl, nor
Control PAnel- all say "explorer.exe has generated errors
and will be terminated". Can anyone tell me what's
happened? IS it a virus? I cannot get onto IE to
download any fixes of course. Can still email though
using outlook so if there is an attachment I can email I
can get a friend to do it to fix? Any clues? Many, many
thanks. SAlly T PS: - Obviously I'm posting this via
someone elses PC as mine won't get IE!!

Hi,
There's a coolwebsearch variant that causes this problem. You should run
CWShredder from http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm CWShredder is less than
200KB. Someone could mail it to you.

You will want to follow up with Ad-aware and Spybot.

Or, can someone download Firefox (5MB) or Mozilla (12MB) onto a CD for you?
That would provide a browser with which to trouble shoot IE.

If you don't have an anti-virus program installed, try Stinger from
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ It's not an all-encompassing AV program but
will remove many common virus's- under 900KB- fits on a floppy disk.
