IE and OWA double clicks and vanishing replies

I've seen various posts about this subject, so I would
like to start a thread with what specifics I have tried in
fixing this issue: OWA Double clicks and vanishing reply.

My environment: Exchange 5.5 Sp4 on W2k sp4. IIS/owa sp4
with owa patches running on W2Ksp4 server. ISA Firewall
(w2ksp3, used mail wizard to publish).

The first issue is when users come to the (MS default)
logon page. They type their name and hit enter, nothing
happens, unless they hit enter again (thus the dreaded
double enter or double click), then they will get the
authentication logon box, (only one as anonymous is
enabled). Once they are in to OWA, if they open an email
and wish to reply to it, if they click on the reply button
the pop window starts to appear and then just disappears.
(I've looked for pop-up blockers and do not have them
loaded, nor do the users).

This problem is happening to more and more of my clients.
And I'm beginning to wonder if it is an IE6 issue vs.
anything to do with OWA/exchange/IIS/w2k/ISA.

Some things I've done in the past week to find the
culprit.

1. I created a new ISA server and reapplied all rules.
2. I moved OWA off the exchange server to a new install of
IIS and OWA on a brand new w2ksp4 box.

I've seen a couple posts indicating that these problems do
not occur on un-patched IE 6 systems. So that will be one
of my next tests. I plan on cross posting this in the IE
forums as well. I know that there are others of you with
this problem, and I've been tracking it for many months
now, and have heard from many of you personally.
Hopefully we can narrow it down to a single thing, <looks
at IE 6 suspiciously>
