IE and AOL

I used to be able to use both AOL and IE at the same time,
no more, Windows 2000 Pro user-I have been fighting the
spyware battles and this may have contributed to it, not
sure, any suggestions?

Sure, dump AOSmell and get a real ISP.

aol and aim are very controling, they like to be default,
but you could be right about the spyware, maybe you
deleted some spyware that aol needs, or maybe ms updates
have upset it.
