IE and AIM crash immediately after Service Pack 2 Install

I installed XP SP2 on my dad's computer, expecting no problems after 3
successful installations on other machines. No errors occured, but it
screwed something up that I can't figure out a way to fix...

He has Yahoo SBC dial-up connection, which connects and stays connected.,
however.... internet explorer opens and crashes immediately, every time.
Same thing with Instant Messenger (AIM). It signs on, brings up the buddy
list and crashes immediately. Everything else seems to be working fine.
He's in another state, so I'm trying to figure this out remotely. I've tried
disabling the newly installed Microsoft AntiSpam, and also turning off the
SP2 firewall, thinking one or the other was blocking access or something. No
luck... at this point, I'm stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions, or
has had a similar experience?

Thanks in advance!

Richard

the netsh command in SP2 can rebuild your Winsock. Open the command prompt and type: netsh winsock reset , then press ENTER.
