IE 7.0 closes when I type in the address bar

I am running IE 7.0 on Windows XP, and Explorer suddenly developed a problem
where it closes when I try typing anything into the address bar. The same
thing happens when I type into the Google toolbar right below the address
bar. It gives me the option of reporting the problem to Microsoft and says
that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The
error details mention msctf.dll and offset number 00024561. Any ideas?

This is what I would do on my system.
Uninstall 7.0 from add/remove programs- revert back to IE6 and see if
problem goes away. If problem goes away, update back to 7.0 and all windows
updates.
