IE 6 on Win 2000.

If I type in URLs such as
www.latimes.com
www.google.com
www.amazon.com
www.hotmail.com

but IE Window goes blank. However, if I type in URLs such as
support.microsoft.com/
www.microsoft.com/
www.msn.com

IE works.

How can I fix this?

What error message are you getting? It just goes blank? Is this your PC or a
work PC? Is there filtering in place? If so what brand? Are you the
administrator of this filter? Is content advisor enabled?

Hi Galen

Here are my answers to your question.

No error message. The bottom of the window shows "Done" as IE always does
when it finishes loading.

It's my computer. I have McFee Virus Scan 6.0 (including Firewall) but
Firewall is not funcitioning. I wanted to use McFee's online self-check to
find out why I can not enable Firewall. But McFee's self-check function is
only available on IE.

Would you help me to fix IE 6.0?
(I can not delete IE and re-install it. The installer always fails even
though there are no applications open).

Thanks

Have you checked your hosts file then? What happens if you actually shut
McAfee down and try? Those would be my first two guesses normally. Yet you
mention not being able to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer. That
makes me think maybe a malware issue??? No offense intended towards McAfee
but there's no one solution that protects you from all malware. A good scan
would be, if nothing else, a good idea if the first two questions don't
bring anything new to light.
