Whenever I use my IE there are times when I need more than
one window open, so I use the File-New-Window to do this,
now for some reason I am unable to get a new window to
open, it is just reloading the window I have open. Is
there something with the new hotfixes, etc. for windows XP
home or microsoft that has caused this function to STOP
working? I have looked through all the internet options,
etc. that I can think of, and am unable to find ANYTHING
that will fix this problem! Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated!!! Thanks!

What happens when you click on a link while holding down the shift key, or
when you reclick the IE icon on your desktop? Both of those should open new
IE windows as well, even if your "File->New->Window" does not (mine does,
btw, and I have all fixes applied on my system).

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."
And... you have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo companion, Google toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or
another) pop-up blocker, etc.
With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

Even while holding down the shift key it refreshes the IE
window and does not open a new window......while clicking
the desktop icon, or a link neither is opening a new
window for me. :(

I unchecked the reuse windows box, and still nothing. I
have just loaded a couple new programs into my computer to
try and help with some of the spyware, etc. I got the
Spybot S&D, Sygate Personal Firewall.....(I usually use
Norton Internet security but had a problem and removed it
awhile back from my computer, so that is why I have a few
of these other programs). I am wondering where or what
caused this problem with no new window. I didn't have this
problem until I downloaded the fixes I believe the other
day. I downloaded the new WindowsXP hotfixes and SP1
stuff. Anything there you can think of that could cause
this problem? Thanks
