IE 6 still freezing 20 sec after suggestions

My browser freezes for about 20 seconds with every page I
go to. I read up on this on the net and a lot of
possibilites. One could be that it has gotten a
*parasite* or something similar of those ads that are
plugged into your system and that it thinks it has to
look for the site with every page I go to so its
searching still for that 20 seconds. Another possibility
was that there is a broken link somewhere so it freezes.
Another one was whether I had some file that was corrupt
and to look for it, etc...
Advice so far has been to run spybot and ad removal and
my antivirus software. I have run spybot so many times
now and every time the stuff is removed but the freezing
remains. I have run Norton - my version says 2000-2002
but I don't see what diff the version makes - it does
live updates - so if the date of the norton matters what
good does it do to have this if it does allow for live
updates and those won't matter? Anyway - nothing has been
found. However I did look IE cache in my search files and
it found one called IEclearcache.vbs and it alerted me
that this was a possible virus and to quarentine it so I
did... I haven't done anything else with it - not sure if
I need it or not so I have left it in quarentine till I
find out more.
Any other suggestions since my spyware and such isn't
finding anything it can't fix and it still freezes...

Hi, Chloe. If you are sure your computer is clean, then possibly you
have a problem with either your network card or your modem. I don't see
where you said how you connect to the Internet - dialup or broadband.
In any case, I'm suggesting you might want to look at this as a
possible hardware issue.
