IE 6 runs in Windows Explorer but not in Browser

After installing IE 6, I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed"
error when starting the browser, however I can open
Windows Explorer and click on the IE link in the Folders
List and I can connect and browse. Opening any new windows
outside of Windows Explorer still get the same error. I
have restored to IE 5.5 and everything works fine. Back to
IE 6 SP1 and same problem. I've installed it 3 times with
the same result. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Open IE, Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab, check the box for 'Internet
Explorer should check...'
