IE 6 Page Errors

Confused

when I try to go to windows update or any secure site using
IE6 I get page cannot be displayed. I have cleaned all my
files and even dl'ed another browser. with mozilla's
firefox I am able to access these sites, but not with IE.
also i adjusted my privacy settings to allow all cookies
and still no good. any suggestions?
