IE 6 only opens URL's with https designation

[baffled]

PC with XP SP1. I baby sit 25 PC's with a group of people
that should not be allowed to touch them. I digress,
One of them will not open a plain http url. you just get
the standard message like its not available. Type in a
https url and its there.

side note: AOL browser works fine with either. So I have
narrowed it down to the IE.

I have reset the IE to all default settings.

I ran the sfc /scannow and nothing out of the ordinary
came out of that. Spybot and NAV turned up nothing.

I'll take any input on this one.

Hi,

Does it work if you put http:// in front of the address? In that case, the
http:// prefix might be broken. See

solve this.
