IE 6 won't browse https after sp2 install

IE 6 gets DNS not found when trying to browse any secure site (HTTPS). Also
when trying to run Windows Update I get "your security settings do not allow
Web sites to use ActiveX controls on your computer" so of course I can't run
Windows Update!!

This all seems to have started happening after SP2 install. Also when I
first launch the browser and type go to a new url, a new window opens up the
same url (https://myaccount.nationalcity.com) which of course gets dns error
since it's https.

I did reset internet zone security settings to medium and enabled running
activex.
Still no joy. Removed Norton Firewall and even with Windows firewall
disabled get the same results. Wouldn't it be swell if MS allowed me to run
Windows Update with FireFox??

Thanks for any help with this.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 443.
Go to Start | Run and enter these commands (press <Enter after each one).

Thanks for your tips on the dll's. It worked for me also. I only recently
began having this problem but it was great to find such a complete, easy fix.
Thanks again!
