IE 6 on XP routes ALL traffic to the internet. None to local addresses!

Mr. Mike

On my boss's laptop any time he tries to browse to a local address the
request is routed out to the internet and some web page states that a
web site of that name does not exist, but suggests alternatives.

I know about the "LAN settings" in "Internet Options" and they are set
correctly. No matter how I chage the settings the same behavior
occurrs. I can even browse to a local IP address and end up with the
same behavior. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

First eliminate any spyware.

you try to remove spyware using any of these programs , download a copy of

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Mr. Mike

The problem was the SonicWall VPN software. Disable it and all works
fine. I did not setup the VPN, but this behavior seems puzzling to me.
At the time the laptop was on site and connected directly to our
network, not coming in through VPN. Our network admin does not
understand it either. Any clues?

Thanks,
Mike
