IE 6 freezing

Lately, when i go to lots of different sites, IE freezes.
A guy said I could go to windows.com and re-downlaod the
latest but when i try to install it, it says I have a more
recent version (last week I did try to get up to date) and
it can't proceed.

This is so frustrating!!

Actually, as an update to my last message, sometimes it
just freezes as it opens up.
